Bangkok: Thirat Rattanawanich and Chadchart Sittipunt have launched the “Sukhumvit Model” operation, aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and tourists by preventing and suppressing crime, as well as maintaining peace and order. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to guarantee happiness and security for the public effectively.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Thirat Rattanawanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, presided over the ceremony to initiate measures to prevent and suppress crime, enforce the law, and facilitate traffic on Sukhumvit Road. This is part of the “Sukhumvit Model” Sandbox project. The event was attended by notable figures, including Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, and other key officials from the police and government departments, who also visited various locations in the Sukhumvit area to assess the situation.
Ms. Thirat emphasized the government’s commitment to integrating all relevant agencies under the leadership of Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, to eliminate illegal activities and ensure public safety. The initiative aims to make Bangkok a secure tourist destination, encouraging economic stimulation through tourism. The government also seeks cooperation from entrepreneurs to comply with laws, thus contributing to the city’s livability and attractiveness as a tourist hub.
Pol. Lt. Col. Noppasin Poolsawat, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, highlighted the Royal Thai Police’s role in implementing measures to enhance safety in tourist areas. This collaborative effort with various governmental agencies aims to instill confidence in tourists, thereby boosting the economy by attracting more visitors and creating job opportunities. The initiative underscores the importance of safety in fostering economic growth and stability for the local population.
