Ministry of Interior Orders Immediate Flood Damage Assessment

Bangkok:The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior has directed provincial governors and district chiefs to expedite the assessment of flood damage on a household level, ensuring swift compensation distribution.

According to Thai News Agency, the directive comes as an immediate response to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's orders to accelerate assistance for flood-affected areas across the country. The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Arsit Sampanrat, emphasized the need for provincial authorities to work closely with relevant agencies, particularly where floodwaters are receding, to conduct thorough damage assessments without delay.

To facilitate rapid aid, Mr. Arsit instructed that local authorities collaborate with community leaders and administrative organizations to compile lists of affected households. This information is to be promptly submitted to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) for quick disbursement of relief funds, bypassing the need to wait for the situation's complete resolution.

The Ministry of Interior is also focused on monitoring the relief process in all provinces. Mr. Arsit stressed the importance of strict adherence to these procedures to ensure that funds reach the affected individuals swiftly, aiding in alleviating their hardships and enabling a return to normalcy.
