Bangkok: The Ministry of Justice has announced its commitment to combating corruption, promoting transparency, and preventing bribery as part of a broader initiative to improve Thailand’s Corruption Perception Index (CPI) ranking to be among the top 20 globally by the year 2036. This announcement was made during the “Justice Against Corruption, Transparency, and No Corruption” event held on the International Day Against Corruption and Promotion of Ethics.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Ruddhaphol Naowarat, the Minister of Justice, led the ceremony and emphasized the importance of these initiatives as part of the government’s core policies. He highlighted that the Ministry of Justice has been integrating and implementing measures to combat corruption and promote ethics since the Cabinet resolution on July 24, 2012, which approved the establishment of Anti-Corruption Operations Centers (ACOCs) across government agencies. These centers are designed to prevent and suppress corruption, promote ethical standards within organizations, and reduce opportunities for misconduct. The Ministry has reported satisfactory progress in these areas over the years.
Despite the progress, Pol. Gen. Ruddhaphol Naowarat stressed the need for continued efforts to rigorously implement and monitor anti-corruption measures. He outlined three main policies for all government units and stakeholders: adherence to a No Gift policy to eliminate any form of gift-giving in the performance of duties, ensuring transparent and verifiable disclosure of government information, and fostering a culture of integrity, service orientation, and fairness across organizations.
