Bangkok: The Ministry of Justice is prepared to offer 300,000 baht in compensation to "Teacher Sai" following a wrongful judgment, highlighting that there is no necessity to await the results of the disciplinary investigation.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Justice, Pol. Gen. Ruttapol Naowarat, announced developments regarding the passing of Ms. Benyaporn Panphet's husband, known as "Teacher Sai." The 30-year-old's death was attributed to coronary artery stenosis, a condition that was initially misdiagnosed as a panic attack by doctors at San Camillo Hospital. An electrocardiogram (EKG) was not performed, leading to a critical delay in proper treatment. The hospital has since terminated the 70-year-old doctor responsible for the oversight.

The Ministry of Justice has tasked officials from Ratchaburi province to gather necessary information and process requests for compensation and support. Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapol assured that the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection will fast-track the compensation process under the Act on Compensation for Victims and Compensation and Expenses for Defendants in Criminal Cases. This action will proceed independently of the hospital's disciplinary investigation results, as the compensation is mandated by law. The initial expectation is for the subcommittee to approve the 300,000 baht compensation to the family of the deceased. Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruttapol extended his condolences to the family, acknowledging the unfortunate nature of the incident and affirming the mechanisms in place to provide assistance and compensation.
