Ministry of Labor Launches Free Logistics Training Program to Boost Workforce Skills

Bangkok: The Ministry of Labor is inviting applications for a free logistics training program, accessible via www.hasla.or.th, aimed at upskilling workers, increasing compensation, and facilitating career advancement into higher positions. Mr. Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced the initiative, emphasizing its role in addressing the labor market’s need for skilled personnel, particularly in the logistics of hazardous goods.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Labor has collaborated with the Department of Skill Development to establish the ‘Institute for Advanced Technology in Logistics and Supply Chain (LoSA)’. This institute focuses on developing personnel with expertise in logistics and supply chain technology to ensure quality, skill, and safety compliance. The program intends to fill the gap in the labor market, especially for roles requiring specialized knowledge in dangerous goods logistics.

In 2024, the institute will partner with the Hazardous Substances Logistic
s Association (HASLA) to train workers for positions in associated companies, such as Hazchem Logistics Management Co., Ltd. and Srithai Group Co., Ltd. Starting salaries for these roles range from 18,000 to 40,000 baht, contingent on position and experience, with higher pay offered to those possessing foreign language skills.

Looking ahead to 2025, the program will offer courses on managing dangerous goods logistics for cross-border transport within the Greater Mekong Sub-region (CLMVT). Applicants must meet specific criteria: being unemployed, holding Thai nationality, being under 28 years old, possessing a bachelor’s degree in any field, and not currently engaged in further education or training.

The training will blend theoretical and practical components, with sessions running from May 15 to July 7, 2025, followed by hands-on training at business establishments from July 15 to August 15, 2025. Graduates will qualify for examinations to secure various logistics roles, such as hazardous materials storage
, GPS and transportation control, planning, safety, and warehouse management.

Interested individuals can apply for the program until May 4, 2025, for one of the 50 available spots, via the HASLA website or by contacting the Logistics and Supply Chain Advanced Technology Personnel Development Institute (LoSA) for more information.
