Samut prakan: The Ministry of Labour clarifies that the "Mayuree Naree" crew members will receive full wages and hazard pay, and the company confirms they will be rehired immediately when ready. Mr. Pichet Thongphan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, alongside key officials from the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, the Department of Consular Affairs, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, extended their support to 20 Thai crew members who returned from Oman. The crew was welcomed at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Samut Prakan province, with various authorities ensuring their safe return and immediate assistance.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pongthep Petchsom, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, emphasized the Ministry of Labour's commitment to collaborate with ship owners to secure wages, welfare, and entitlements for the crew. The ship owners have shown cooperation, ensuring crew members receive full wages and special compensation for their work in war zones, as per international law. The wages will be deposited into the crew members' bank accounts monthly.
Additionally, the company has pledged to compensate for any personal belongings lost by the crew due to the incident. Full compensation for items left on board will be provided in a timely manner. The company has also expressed its intent to rehire all crew members once they are ready to resume work.
Upon their return, the company has taken steps to safeguard the crew's well-being, offering medical check-ups by specialists to address their physical and mental health needs.
