Bangkok: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) is presenting a special New Year’s gift to the people of Thailand by waiving entrance fees to natural tourist attractions across the country for five days, from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026. This initiative, under the theme “Creating Happiness for Thai People from the Heart of MNRE,” aims to provide families with the chance to enjoy nature and promote ecotourism.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Raweewan Phuridej, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, emphasized that the Ministry’s goal is to bring joy and help reduce expenses during the festive season by offering free entry to tourist attractions under its jurisdiction. Additionally, the Ministry is organizing activities and providing convenient services for tourists across the nation.
The natural attractions available to the public for free include 133 national parks, 160 wildlife sanctuaries and protected areas, nine recreational and urban forests, seven zoos, botanical gardens, and natural resource museums. Aquariums in various locations are also part of this initiative. Furthermore, “Public Service Centers” have been set up at affiliated agencies nationwide, offering services such as rest stops, restrooms, beverages, camping areas, route information, and activities to promote well-being. These activities include distributing saplings, free vehicle checks, free gem and diamond inspections, recycling activities, and initiatives to raise environmental awareness.
The Ministry is also engaged in initiatives to improve the quality of life, such as allocating over 8.6 million rai of land for farming, providing housing for 295 communities, developing water resources for consumption and agriculture in 59 provinces, promoting knowledge of natural resources through online platforms, and enhancing safety in marine tourism with the Marine Warning system.
Dr. Raweewan encourages the public to make responsible use of these New Year’s gift services for 2026 and to show care for the environment. The Ministry hopes for a collective effort towards the sustainable preservation of natural resources, ensuring the happiness of Thai people both now and in the future.
