Bangkok: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Resources is implementing proposals from the 2026 National Family Assembly. Mr. Anekchai Ruangratanakorn, Advisor to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, awarded plaques of honor to 30 organizations promoting a family-friendly environment and chaired the event's closing ceremony. The assembly, themed "Building Family Happiness," was attended by Ms. Jatuporn Rojpanich and Ms. Suda Sulong of the Department of Women and Family Affairs, along with various stakeholders, at the Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, the event adhered to regulations set by the Prime Minister's Office on promoting family institutions. Mr. Anekchai emphasized the importance of holding provincial and national family assemblies as per guidelines from the National Family Policy and Strategy Committee and the Family Promotion and Development Committee. The Department of Women and Family Affairs organized the assembly, held from August 31 to September 2, 2026, to foster collaboration and develop policies for family-related work.
Mr. Anekchai highlighted the holistic approach of "Empowering Family Life for Happiness," focusing on strengthening family institutions, creating supportive environments, enhancing economic capabilities, and building social resilience. The assembly resulted in four key proposals aimed at improving family well-being, creating family-friendly environments, strengthening family economic power, and ensuring cyber safety.
1. Fostering family well-being involves enhancing parenting skills, emphasizing moral values, and strengthening community therapists' capacity.
2. Creating a family-friendly environment includes promoting flexible workspaces, developing caregiver compensation systems, and integrating cross-agency databases.
3. Strengthening family economic power focuses on creating markets for vulnerable households, developing financial discipline, and providing financial coaching.
4. Ensuring cyber safety involves enhancing digital skills, reducing screen time, and promoting cybersecurity protections.
Mr. Anekchai expressed gratitude to the organizations awarded for their efforts and emphasized the importance of advancing the proposals in policy and practice. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security remains committed to improving the quality of life and developing Thai society sustainably.
