Bangkok: The Ministry of Transport is ramping up efforts to address flooding across the nation by distributing 3,000 relief bags to affected areas. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, alongside Ms. Mallika Jiraphanwanich, Deputy Minister of Transport, and Mr. Chaiyatham Promsorn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, convened with executives from affiliated agencies to discuss the current flood situation impacting the transportation network as of November 18, 2025. Despite the threat of heavy rainfall in Thailand’s upper southern region, previous flooding continues to disrupt travel in multiple areas. Between August 24 and November 18, 2025, there were a total of 367 affected locations, with 16 remaining impassable.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pipat emphasized that the Ministry of Transport has directed all agencies to prioritize public assistance. This includes the installation of cones, barriers, and warning signs in flood-prone areas. Additionally, patrol teams are actively monitoring water levels around the clock, and large machinery is being utilized to expedite water removal and road clearance. Key areas of focus include Si Samrong District in Uthai Thani Province, Kao Liao and Phayuha Khiri Districts in Nakhon Sawan Province, and several districts in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Tak, Kanchanaburi, and Sing Buri Provinces. Department of Highways and Department of Rural Roads officials are on-site to assist, install warning signs, and construct temporary detours to ensure public safety during travel.

Ms. Mallika announced that the Ministry of Transport has received 3,000 relief bags from affiliated agencies, such as the Marine Department, Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand, and Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited. These relief bags will be distributed to the most affected areas, starting with Singburi Province, which has experienced ongoing impact. This initiative forms part of the broader support being extended to all regions seeking relief. For further assistance, the public is encouraged to contact relevant agencies, including the Transportation Safety Center, Department of Highways, Department of Rural Roads, State Railway of Thailand, and the Marine Department through their respective hotlines.
