More Bodies Recovered from Auditor General’s Office as Demolition Progresses

Bangkok: Officials have accelerated efforts at the Office of the Auditor General’s building, reducing its height to facilitate faster access to the basement. Last night, an additional person was rescued from Zone D, with the area expected to be cleared by May.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriyachai Rawiwan, Director of the Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, reported that the building’s height has been reduced to an average of 1.37 meters, equating the front height to the ground floor. The current focus is on quickly opening access to the basement. Recently, one more individual was rescued from Zone D, and several pieces of debris were discovered, with efforts continuing to clear the site by May.

In terms of the ongoing investigation, police have been making progress after a two-hour meeting. They are examining allegations of forgery concerning the building engineer’s signature and false claims related to the elevator shaft design amendment. The original documents will be sent to the Forensic Science Office for signature verification. Additionally, a letter will be prepared for the Engineering Council to authenticate the names on the documents.
