More heavy rains lash the South today

The Meteorological Department again issued another warning of flashfloods and landslides in some southern provinces as heavy rains started to lash nine southern provinces today.

Residents living in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat are told to get ready and prepare to cope with flashfloods, land and mudslides.

They are also advised to monitor the weather for closely.

The weather forecaster said high pressure from China has now moved down to cover all the Northeast and the Gulf of Thailand as the northeasterly monsoon is also strengthening.

The two factors thus will cause increasing rainfalls in the South.

It forecast heavy rains in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat today.

But it said from tomorrow until Sunday, heavy rains will centre in some areas of Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Trang, Satun, Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat.

High waves of 2-3 metres will be expected in the Gulf and fishermen are advised to stay on shore until next week.
