Mother brings 17-year-old daughter to complain about being physically abused by 19-year-old ex-boyfriend – no compensation

Bangkok, A mother brought her 17-year-old daughter to Sai Mai Must Survive after her ex-boyfriend assaulted her with a machete, severely injuring her. The mother reported the attempted murder, but the police only charged her with abduction of a minor. Two months later, the man has disappeared without compensation. Ms. Malison, 55 years old, a daily wage earner, the victim's mother, and Ms. A, 17 years old, a student who was the victim, filed a complaint with Mr. Ekkapop Lueangprasert, advisor to the Minister of Interior and founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page, after the victim was severely injured by her 19-year-old ex-boyfriend, without any compensation from the perpetrator's family. Ms. A revealed that her mother lives in Rayong Province but sent her to study at a school in Chonburi Province. She is a first-year vocational certificate student who is about to enter her second year and she stays in a dormitory. However, she has been seeing and staying with her boyfriend, who is 19 years old, a second- year vocational certificate student. Her mother does not know who she has been seeing or living with in the past. Before the incident, she found out that he had another woman and asked to break up with her, but he refused and tried to persuade her and harass her all the time, even threatening her. Then, on the day of the incident, May 3, 2024, while she was lying in front of the house, he came and took her phone to look at the chats and saw the chats she had with her friends, so he yelled at her that she had someone else. After that, they argued. The man was restless and ran out to the front of the house before coming back in again and they argued again. Until the man decided to walk into the kitchen, grabbed a machete and came straight to her before asking her if she confirmed that they wanted to break up. When she confirmed, the man immediately slashed her in the forehead, which was the first wound. I tried to run but was pulled back and was hit in the head about 5 times. I tried to fight back but it was no use. In that incident, the father of the man was aware of the incident from the beginning, but the father of the man did not stop or help me. In the past, the man had been violent towards his mother but never towards me. He also once held a knife and threatened his mother. Now, due to the injury, he cannot live his life as usual. He cannot pick up anything because the tendons are torn and the cartilage is broken. Only his left hand can move his wrist. The other hand cannot move. His pinky finger is missing. In the forehead, there is a blood clot in the brain and his skull is fractured. Both ears are missing. He was hospitalized for about 18-19 days. Malison revealed that after the incident, she learned that the police had already arrested the man. However, in addition to the attempted murder charge, she wanted to press charges for the abduction of a minor. However, the police told her, 'When you said you were going to press charges for the abduction of a minor, do you know what the law is? If you don't know , then don't press charges. The attempted murder charge is already serious, so what do you want from the abduction of a minor?' And what bothered her was that the man's family had never provided any assistance since the day of the incident until now. They never even visited or called. She wanted them to help pay for her medical expenses because she works daily and had to quit her job to take care of her child and borrow money to pay for her child's treatment. She also had to sell her van to pay for her treatment. The total cost of treatment was around 200,000 baht, but she had already paid 50,000 baht. She came to ask Sai Mai Must Survive to help restore justice for her and her child. While Mr. Ekkapop said that after this, he will have to coordinate with Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jindakhwansong, Commander of Chonburi Provincial Police, to help look into this matter to see if the charges are complete or not, and will have the team take the victim to the Ministry of Justice as well because there must be th e matter of compensation from the Ministry of Justice in the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection as well. Later, the reporter contacted the Sri Racha Police Station and received confirmation that the investigators have now filed all charges, including attempted murder and abduction of a minor, to proceed with legal action against the suspect.
