Bangkok: The 47th Bangkok International Motor Show concluded with a record-breaking 132,951 vehicle bookings, nearly doubling last year's figures.
According to Thai News Agency, the event, themed 'The ICONIC SYNCHRONICITY,' witnessed a significant surge in electric vehicle bookings, with BYD emerging as the frontrunner by securing 17,354 unit reservations.
Despite ongoing energy volatility due to unrest in the Middle East, the motor show attracted tremendous interest from consumers and businesses in the automotive sector. A total of 1,798,312 visitors attended the event, which highlighted the industry's resilience and the recovering market confidence. Following BYD, TOYOTA and OMODA JAECOO secured the second and third spots with 15,750 and 15,088 units booked, respectively.
Mr. Chaturon Komolmisra, Vice President of the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show, commented on the exhibition's impact, stating, "Despite the economic volatility and geopolitical conflicts facing Thailand, the Bangkok International Motor Show remains a highly effective automotive exhibition that has contributed to the growth of Thailand's automotive industry for over 40 years."
A notable feature of this year's show was the burgeoning interest in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Automakers from Asia and Europe showcased new technologies and innovations, offering consumers an array of choices. Meanwhile, traditional internal combustion engine vehicles continued to garner attention, especially in the SUV and pickup truck categories, which cater to practical usage needs.
Mr. Komolmisra further noted that the success of the event extends beyond mere booking numbers. It serves as a vital 'platform' connecting manufacturers, distributors, and consumers while significantly driving the Thai automotive industry towards embracing new energy solutions.
The motor show also featured promotional activities, special offers, test drives, and demonstrations of safety technologies, intelligent driving systems, and future mobility solutions. These elements effectively influenced consumer purchasing decisions and marked a pivotal moment in the Thai automotive industry's transition towards advanced technology, evolving consumer behavior, and changing market structures.
