Bangkok: Motorcycle theft prevention methods, such as installing GPS systems and using locks, have been confirmed as effective strategies for safeguarding vehicles.
According to Thai News Agency, these methods have been verified by the "Sure Before Sharing" center in collaboration with Assistant Professor Nattasit Pattana-im from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi.
The program emphasizes the importance of understanding the purpose behind each method to enhance their effectiveness. Motorcycle theft often occurs due to factors like on-demand theft, petty theft for parts, and negligence such as leaving engines running. The center highlights five practical strategies: installing GPS tracking systems, locking all possible points, parking within CCTV camera range, chaining the motorcycle to immovable objects, and ensuring the engine is turned off with the key removed.
While no method can guarantee 100% prevention, employing a combination of these strategies can significantly reduce the risk of theft by minimizing opportunities and increasing the time required for thieves to succeed. The emphasis is on proactive measures to protect motorcycles from becoming easy targets for criminals.
