Move Body Parts of the Deceased from the Building Collapse to Send for DNA Testing

Bangkok: Officials move body parts of the deceased from the collapsed building to be examined and compared with DNA of relatives to verify their identities.

According to Thai News Agency, from morning until afternoon, officers continuously inspected suspicious coordinates until they found 8 targets that are believed to be human remains in Zones B and C. Most recently, they dug to open up the area wider and the rescue team removed all human remains from the scene, which was near the point where the rescue team claimed to have found the mobile phone light. They took the remains to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine to compare with relatives and verify the identities of the missing persons. As for the search for the person who sent the mobile phone signal in Zone B, no one has been found yet.

Mr. Suriyachai Rawiwan, Director of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), revealed that since morning, after the officers dug close to the foundation of the building, they have adjusted the plan according to the work site because they found a large concrete slab. If they can drill through it, they will reach the point where the rescue team claims that there are lights responding. However, the officers are still searching continuously. Even though it is a holiday during the Songkran festival, the search will not stop.

Mr. Kan Chom Phalang led 2 buses to the area where the Office of the Auditor General collapsed, near the tents for relatives to wait for relatives, approximately 60 people, to receive mental support and to pay homage to the sacred objects at Wat Phra Kaew and the City Pillar Shrine, to ask the sacred objects to be a source of spiritual support while the missing persons are still not found.

Mr. Kan Chom Phalang revealed that today he took about 60 relatives of the missing to seek mental healing outside the area after being in the area for several days. He will take them to Wat Phra Kaew and the City Pillar Shrine. At first, the relatives of the missing were worried about their financial resources.
