Bangkok: Reporters observed a unique lunchtime atmosphere in the parliament, with many members, particularly from the Bhumjaithai and Pheu Thai parties, opting to bring their own lunchboxes.
According to Thai News Agency, several MPs showcased their dining experiences on personal social media, with some choosing to eat in the parliamentary cafeteria while others preferred the comfort of their offices for their meals.
Ms. Traisulee Traisaranakul, a party-list MP from the Bhumjaithai Party, was spotted purchasing fruit after stepping out of a parliamentary meeting, preparing for her midday meal. In support of the party's recent resolution to abolish lunch allowances for MPs, Ms. Suchada Sangtansap, MP for Chaiyaphum from the same party, brought her own lunchbox. She shared a snapshot of herself holding a sandwich on her Facebook page, symbolizing her commitment to the cause.
Meanwhile, Radklao Intawong Suwannakiri, a list MP and deputy leader of the Democrat Party, took to Facebook to share her experience. She posted a picture and a message highlighting, "While 'Nene' is waiting to speak in the 20th position of the opposition party on the urgent motion regarding Thailand's energy structure." She described the day's lunch in the Democrat Party meeting room as "simple but delicious and flavorful Southern Thai lunch," expressing gratitude to the MPs for the meal and rallying support for the upcoming parliamentary discussion.
