Bangkok: MPs brought their own lunchboxes to the parliamentary session discussing the oil crisis. Mr. Chanawut Uttho, a Pheu Thai Party MP from Kalasin, took the initiative to bring his own lunchbox to the House of Representatives meeting. He addressed the topic of abolishing free lunch for MPs, stating that the decision to consume food provided by Parliament is a personal choice. Mr. Uttho emphasized that despite party or political group decisions, it remains within the prerogative of each MP. He further noted that since taxpayer funds are involved in their duties, MPs should be willing to make sacrifices, exemplified by his choice to bring a lunchbox filled with fried rice, stir-fried glass noodles, and fried pork.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Romtham Khamnurak, a Bhumjaithai Party list MP, also opted to bring his own lunchbox for the session. In a Facebook post, he mentioned that the parliamentary session was centered on the motion concerning the oil problem and the repercussions of the Middle East conflict, which would be forwarded to the government for further action. He shared that he brought his own lunchbox to the meeting.
Additionally, Mr. Romtham highlighted that the shirt he wore was crafted from fabric by the Nikhom Lan Khoi weaving group in Pa Phayom District, Phatthalung Province, describing it as very beautiful.
