MRTA Offers Free Parking to Facilitate Public Travel for Royal Respect Ceremony

Bangkok: The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has announced a significant initiative to support individuals traveling to pay their respects to the royal urn of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. This initiative includes providing free parking on specific days to accommodate visitors.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Transport has coordinated with the MRTA to implement free parking services on the MRT lines during weekends, public holidays, and other official holidays designated by the Cabinet. This service will commence on 15 November 2025. The parking facilities available include three buildings on the MRT Blue Line, four on the MRT Purple Line, and one each on the MRT Yellow and Pink Lines.

In addition to parking, the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) is offering a free shuttle service connecting the MRT Blue Line with Sanam Luang. This service operates between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, covering various distances and providing multiple cars for efficient transport.

The MRTA also mandates that all electric train line concessionaires ensure safe and convenient travel. Measures include increasing train frequency, providing special lanes for ticket sales, and deploying staff to assist passengers. More information can be accessed via the MRTA’s website or call center.
