Bangkok: Nabil Anan has reported to the boxing training camp at the Sports Authority of Thailand's boxing training center, marking a significant step in his preparation for the 2026 Asian Games. The Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand has extended an invitation to the 22-year-old boxer to switch to amateur boxing, setting the stage for his potential participation in the 2028 Olympic Games.
According to Thai News Agency, Nabil Anan has begun experiencing the rigorous atmosphere of the Thai national boxing team. Under the guidance of Mariano Gonzalez Cosme, the head coach of the team, Anan has engaged in sparring sessions and interacted with fellow national athletes who are also training for the upcoming Asian Games. This marks Anan's first encounter with the team and his initial steps into the world of amateur boxing.
Nabil Anan's training will not solely focus on boxing; he plans to continue his Muay Thai practices alongside his boxing sessions. The Amateur Boxing Association of Thailand intends to coordinate with ONE Championship to ensure that his fight schedule does not interfere with his commitments to the national boxing team. As part of this strategy, ONE Championship is expected to schedule fewer fights for Anan to accommodate his training regimen.
Looking ahead, Nabil Anan is anticipated to compete in the 2027 Thai National Championships. This tournament will serve as a platform for him to demonstrate his boxing prowess and establish his credentials, as he aims to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games.
