NACC expedites investigation into ‘Big Joke’s’ asset declaration letter

The Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) revealed that they are currently investigating the letter explaining the assets of Pol. Gen. Surachet. As for the luxury house case, the National Police Chief himself has already sent a letter explaining it. He admitted that foreign assets are difficult to investigate. He hopes that the public and the media will provide clues. Mr. Niwatchai Kasem Mongkol, Secretary-General of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), gave an interview about the investigation into the assets and debts of Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, former Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, saying that he had already written a letter explaining the facts last week. The NACC is currently examining the letter of explanation. In the case where the meeting of the Royal Thai Police Commission (RTP) and the Police Ethics Protection Committee (PCP) ruled that the order for Pol. Gen. Surachet to temporarily resign from the civil service was legal and that there was a royal decree for him to temporarily resign from the civil service, will this end the investigation of Pol. Gen. Surachet's complaint to the NACC against Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, who was acting Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police at that time? Mr. Niwatchai confirmed that it was not related because Pol. Gen. Surachet's complaint to the NACC was about a criminal case and the submission of a false account. As for disciplinary matters, appointments and transfers are the responsibility of the executive branch, including criminal cases that have a statute of limitations, and criminal cases cannot be withdrawn. While investigating the luxury residence of Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol, the national police chief in England, Mr. Niwatchai stated that they are currently investigating the submission of the account and asking him to provide an explanation. Pol. Gen. Torsak has already sent a letter of explanation. They are in the process of consi dering the summary of the explanation. As for whether he will be summoned to give an oral statement, he believes that it is Pol. Gen. Torsak's right to send a letter of explanation or provide information himself. If he does not come, he will lose his right to provide an explanation. When reporters asked what measures the NACC will take to investigate assets in foreign countries, Mr. Niwatchai said that this is a difficult matter. If there is no declaration of assets, the NACC will not know. However, there are usually well-wishers who point out the way to the NACC all the time. The process of disclosing the declaration of assets and debts cannot be concealed. Therefore, the public and the media will be the ones to point out information channels and work in the field of intelligence because the NACC is not an agency that knows everything. We need to point out the way to bring in clues, especially regarding illegal assets. If the case is concluded, we have a reward for providing information. Source: Thai News Agency
