Narumon Mobilizes Aid for Southern Flood Victims, Establishes Kitchens for Meal Distribution

Bangkok: Narumon ordered vocational students to help with flooding in the South, opening eight kitchens to prepare 2,500 food boxes per day and deliver them to residents of Hat Yai, Rattaphum, Nathawi, and Phakho. They are also preparing to establish a Fix It center for post-flood recovery.

According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, addressed the severe flooding in several southern provinces. She stated that the Ministry of Education has mobilized all vocational colleges to provide immediate relief to the people. She has ordered five vocational colleges in Songkhla Province to set up kitchens to prepare 500 food boxes each, totaling over 2,500 boxes per day, to be distributed to affected areas in Hat Yai, Rattaphum, Nathawi, and Phakho districts. This will ensure adequate food and drinking water for stranded residents in various at-risk areas. Three colleges from Surat Thani Province have also been contacted to set up additional kitchens within the province’s de
signated evacuation centers to accommodate flood victims.

Prof. Dr. Narumon further revealed that the College of Maritime Technology in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province has dispatched three flat-bottomed boats to assist with the evacuation and transport of supplies in Songkhla Province. This will allow officials to quickly reach flood victims in areas where vehicles cannot reach them. If water levels in Rattaphum District, Songkhla, return to normal on November 26th, the Ministry of Education will expedite the establishment of a “Fix It Center,” a collaboration between colleges in Songkhla and Surat Thani provinces. This center will restore and repair electrical appliances, agricultural equipment, motorcycles, and other items belonging to the public, alleviating post-flood expenses.

“The Ministry of Education will continue to closely support all missions to assist the public and offer support to all officials and volunteers who are working against the clock to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” said
Prof. Dr. Narumon.
