Narumon Orders Investigation Into Student Recruitment Scandal in Maha Sarakham Province

Bangkok: Minister Narumon ordered the establishment of a central committee to urgently investigate the issue of student recruitment manipulation in Maha Sarakham Province. She vowed to take full responsibility if any distortion of teacher staffing is found, fearing the impact on the quality of education.

According to Thai News Agency, Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, addressed concerns following information circulating on social media. The allegations suggest that some schools in the Maha Sarakham Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 might be manipulating student numbers to meet teacher staffing requirements. This manipulation could affect fairness in teacher allocation and the quality of student education.

The Minister of Education has initiated an expedited investigation into these allegations. A central committee within the Ministry of Education has been appointed to conduct a direct and thorough investigation to ensure that the findings are comprehensive, transparent, and verifiable. Prof. Dr. Narumon emphasized that any discovered wrongdoing would lead to decisive legal and administrative action.

Public concerns have also linked the current allegations to a previous complaint about bribery in hiring assistant teachers. However, Prof. Dr. Narumon stated that no connection has been confirmed between the two cases, though investigations are ongoing. Should the investigation uncover any malpractice, severe penalties will be enforced to prevent such corruption under her leadership of the Ministry of Education.

Prof. Dr. Narumon reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to honesty, transparency, and the rule of law. Any actions undermining the education system will face prosecution to the fullest extent to ensure fair teacher allocation and to maintain public confidence in the integrity of Thai education.
