“Natcha” asks the Bangkok governor to urgently provide relief for the black-chinned tilapia outbreak.

Bangkok, "Natcha" asks the Bangkok governor to urgently provide assistance to farmers before they are forced to change their occupation after the black-chinned tilapia has spread severely in Bang Khun Thian. Mr. Natcha Boonchaiinsawat, Bangkok MP for District 27, Move Forward Party, visited Bang Khun Thian District to monitor the situation of the spread of the black-chinned tilapia, along with Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, and Mr. Sanon Wangsangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, executives of Bang Khun Thian District Office, representatives of the Department of Fisheries, and relevant persons. They surveyed the public canal of Khlong Sanam Chai, near the Move Forward Party Coordination Center Office, Bang Khun Thian District, and found black-chinned tilapia floating all over the public canal. The problem must be solved urgently. Currently, 3 districts of Bangkok are in serious crisis: Bang Bon, Thung Khru, and the worst is Bang Khun Thian. Almost 900 farmers are affected and are facing a crit ical situation. Mr. Natcha suggested that the Bangkok governor urgently consider the budget to help farmers affected by the invasion of black-chinned tilapia into their aquaculture areas to help alleviate the farmers' suffering first, because previously, many farmers were forced to change their occupations because they had invested many times and lost money due to the heavy invasion. The Bangkok governor said that Bangkok is working closely with the Department of Fisheries. They must listen to the Department of Fisheries as they are experts, and find ways to help farmers who have been affected because their businesses have been severely damaged, with incomes dropping tenfold. He has been closely monitoring the situation. Although the outbreak has now spread to three districts of Bangkok, it is likely to spread further. Many parties must cooperate to solve the problem. In the parliament meeting on July 11, Mr. Natcha asked the Minister of Agriculture to urgently solve the problem of the black-chinned tilapi a outbreak, investigate the source of the outbreak to find the responsible person, including the government agencies that neglected it. Importantly, the government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, should clearly announce the relief measures for the people. For example, if this species of fish is found in the ponds of the people that are not natural water sources, the ministry will provide assistance according to the value of the damage to support the situation so that the people do not suffer more.
