Bangkok: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has strongly condemned an incident involving an assailant disguised as a woman who shot and killed a female teacher carrying her child. The NHRC described the act as inhumane and called for swift justice to be served.

According to Thai News Agency, the NHRC issued a statement denouncing the attacker who fatally shot a police officer and his wife while they were in their vehicle. The assailant, disguised in a hijab, seriously injured the officer and killed his wife, who was carrying their infant child. The incident, which took place on May 25, 2026, left the baby injured and has sparked outrage and demands for justice.

The NHRC expressed its deepest condolences to the affected family, condemning the brutal act that separated a mother from her child. It emphasized that such acts are not only heartbreaking but also violate both the law and international conventions. The commission reiterated the importance of the right to life and physical safety as fundamental human rights that must be upheld for all citizens.

The NHRC has urged authorities to act promptly in apprehending and prosecuting those responsible for the attack. It also called for increased preventative measures to ensure the safety of all citizens, particularly women and children. Additionally, the commission highlighted the need for providing compensation to the victims' families for the emotional and property damage they have suffered.
