Nattawut Dandee Appointed as Director-General of Meteorological Department

Baku:The Cabinet has appointed Nattawut Dandee as the new Director-General of the Meteorological Department. This decision elevates Mr. Dandee from his previous role as Deputy Director-General within the same department, and the appointment is effective from the date of the Royal Decree.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Dandee has had a distinguished career in meteorology spanning nearly 30 years. He recently gained public attention when he addressed rumors about an impending "catastrophic flood" in Thailand. During a press conference at the Weather Forecasting Operations Center on September 22nd, he clarified that while heavy to very heavy rainfall was expected from September 23rd to 27th due to a strengthening monsoon trough and southwest monsoon, the reports of a "mega-flood" were inaccurate. He emphasized that the primary concerns should be about accumulated rainfall potentially causing flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas, rather than continuous, non-stop rainfall.
