Pathum thani: Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, took to the streets of Pathum Thani province alongside parliamentary candidates in a bid to retain their political stronghold. The campaign focused on tackling local issues such as flood management and economic compensation, drawing a positive response from the community.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong commenced the campaign with a walk through the market and community areas of Green Garden Village, Khlong 11, concluding at Ayara Plaza fresh market. The People's Party has strategically fielded candidates across all 8 constituencies in the province, aiming for comprehensive representation.

During the campaign, Mr. Nattapong engaged with residents to discuss critical policies aimed at mitigating the persistent flooding and water pollution issues that have long afflicted Pathum Thani. He underscored the need for better flood prevention measures, especially in areas lacking adequate infrastructure outside the flood barriers.

The People's Party leader outlined a series of compensatory measures intended to provide financial relief to affected residents. These include a monthly assistance of 3,000 baht for those impacted by flooding, compensation for agricultural opportunity costs, actual home repair expenses, and standardized funeral costs. Additionally, he proposed supporting local administrative organizations with funding to offer temporary employment to residents during disaster recovery periods.

Mr. Nattapong also highlighted the importance of elevating riverside communities to prevent future flooding, advocating for community-involved design solutions. For long-term flood management, he proposed enhancing drainage capacity, establishing provincial water data centers, and focusing on ecosystem restoration through improved waste and water management practices.

Concluding his campaign speech, Mr. Nattapong emphasized the critical role of the electorate in this election cycle, noting the absence of Senators in the Prime Ministerial selection process, thereby underscoring the importance of public participation in shaping the government's future.
