NBTC Chairman Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk Deemed Ineligible for Position

Bangkok: The NBTC (National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) selection committee has unanimously resolved that Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk possesses a disqualifying characteristic, thus forfeiting his right to the position of NBTC commissioner.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wisanu Waranyu, Vice President of the Supreme Administrative Court and secretary of the NBTC Selection Committee, disclosed after the meeting that Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk, the NBTC chairman, was found to have a prohibited characteristic under Section 8 (2) of the Frequency Allocation Organization Act B.E. 2553. This finding led to the determination that he had waived his right to hold the position under Section 18 of the same act, as amended by the Frequency Allocation Organization Act (No. 4) B.E. 2564.

Mr. Wissanu further stated that Dr. Saran's past actions will be evaluated by the relevant agencies on a case-by-case basis to assess their consequences. He also mentioned that the process of whether the matter needs submission to the Prime Minister for presentation to His Majesty the King will involve the Senate Secretariat forwarding it back through the initial channels.
