Bangkok: The NBTC board meeting collapsed for the fifth consecutive time due to a lack of quorum. Three NBTC commissioners refused to attend, and this time they did not even enter the meeting room, fearing that voting might be illegal due to the lack of qualifications for the NBTC chairman. Another commissioner was absent.

According to Thai News Agency, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) had scheduled the commissioner meeting for today, following the cancellation of the previous meeting on August 11 due to the same issue-insufficient quorum. This cancellation was announced by Professor Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk, the NBTC Chairman.

Throughout August, the NBTC has planned meetings on four specific days: August 11, 13, 19, and 20. The agenda includes 44 urgent items out of a total of 99 pending issues. The meetings are under scrutiny, especially after Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed on August 11th that he had signed and submitted an order to His Majesty the King to remove Professor Dr. Soran Boonbaichaiyapruk from his position as chairman, following legal procedures.

Today's meeting fell apart again when Air Vice Marshal Dr. Thanapan Hraicharoen, Professor Emeritus Dr. Pirongrong Ramsut, and Dr. Supach Supachalasai did not attend. Their absence was driven by concerns regarding the legality of voting and its implications for future board decisions. Additionally, Dr. Sompop Phurivikraipong's absence contributed to the quorum deficit.

Professor Dr. Soran, MD, briefly remarked after exiting the meeting that he had not engaged in any illegal activities and affirmed his intention to continue as chairman of the NBTC until formally relieved of his duties by a royal decree.
