NBTC Seizes Drones and Detection Equipment in Samut Prakan

Samut prakan: The NBTC office searched a company in Samut Prakan Province, seizing drones and detection equipment. They are coordinating with the Customs Department to verify the accuracy.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Trirat Viriyasirikul, Deputy Secretary-General and Acting Secretary-General of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), revealed that yesterday, the NBTC, in collaboration with the Central Investigation Bureau, searched a company in Samut Prakan Province. The search uncovered unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), equipment for detecting and countering unmanned aerial vehicles, and a frequency monitoring vehicle. All equipment was seized to verify NBTC-related licenses. Furthermore, coordination with the Customs Department is being expedited to verify the accuracy of the imports, as the seized items are currently being counted.

Mr. Trirat revealed that after investigating the company’s owner, who is a Singaporean national living abroad, the company’s Thai manager was initially investigated. Each piece of evidence will require a thorough examination, as some of the equipment is assembled in-house and some is imported.

For the offense of anyone who commits an act that violates Section 6 of the Radio Communications Act B.E. 2498, which prohibits anyone from making, possessing, using, importing, exporting, or trading radio communication equipment unless permission has been obtained from an official, they must be punished according to Section 23 of the Radio Communications Act B.E. 2498, with a fine not exceeding 100,000 baht or imprisonment not exceeding 5 years, or both.

“The current situation is sensitive. We, the NBTC, are ready to support security agencies in all areas for the benefit of national security. We urge the public to follow news from official channels, as some issues may influence the opposition due to the rapid dissemination of information regarding military equipment,” said Mr. Trirat.
