NBTC Seizes Over 2,500 Drones Near Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangkok: The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), in coordination with security agencies, has intercepted a large number of drones, totaling over 2,500 units. This operation was initiated following the detection of a suspicious drone near Suvarnabhumi Airport.

According to Thai News Agency, the detected drone’s design bore a resemblance to the “Ukraine model,” previously used in attacks on Russian military bases. This raised immediate concerns about the potential threats posed by such drones. The NBTC, along with security agencies, conducted a thorough risk assessment, concluding that the drone might have been smuggled into the country by land. Once inside, it could have been flown domestically, potentially representing a new form of security threat. This assessment led to the urgent decision to intercept the drone at its source.

Security agencies have successfully seized over 2,500 drones suspected of being part of this operation. An investigation is underway to uncover further details about the origins and intended use of these drones. Authorities have stated that more information will be disclosed as the investigation progresses.
