Nearly 600,000 Register for Advance Voting in Thailand

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has reported that nearly 600,000 people have registered for advance voting within the past seven days. The ECT summarized the seven-day registration period for advance voting and overseas voting, reporting that a total of 577,633 individuals have registered.

According to Thai News Agency, the ECT outlined the total number of registered voters requesting to cast their ballots before the official Election Day, both within and outside their electoral districts. During the registration period from December 20-26, 2025, a total of 577,633 people registered. This number includes 1,759 voters who requested to vote within their electoral district, 528,816 voters who requested to vote outside their district, and 47,058 voters who requested to vote overseas.

Registration remains open for citizens with essential business preventing them from voting on February 8th, as well as for citizens residing outside the Kingdom and officials appointed to perform duties on election day. This registration period extends from December 20, 2025, to January 5, 2026.

Additionally, citizens who registered for advance voting but have changed their plans or are unable to vote on February 1, 2026, due to the inability to vote in the referendum on that date, have the option to cancel their advance voting registration. This allows them to participate in the general election along with the referendum on February 8, 2026.
