Washington: The U.S. Department of Justice has released over 300,000 pages of investigative documents related to the case of the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The release came after pressure from members of Congress who utilized new legislation to compel the disclosure of the information.
According to Thai News Agency, the documents include several photographs of former Democratic President Bill Clinton. This release may contradict the Justice Department’s usual policy of not disclosing evidence from ongoing investigations. In a related development, Republican President Donald Trump had previously initiated an investigation into Clinton’s ties to Epstein, which some critics argue was an effort to deflect scrutiny from his own connections to Epstein.
Among the newly released photographs is an image purportedly showing Mr. Clinton in a hot tub or swimming pool with an unmarked individual. Mr. Clinton has not yet issued a response to these revelations. However, he has previously expressed regret over his association with Epstein and has consistently maintained that he was unaware of Epstein’s illegal activities.
The release of these documents comes amidst ongoing political tension, with Trump supporters expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s hesitance to release all interrogation records related to Epstein. Despite the release, the significance of the new documents remains uncertain, as numerous records have already been made public since Epstein’s death in prison in 2019, which was ruled a suicide.
