Bangkok: The origin of the "New Year's Eve Prayer" tradition at Wat Saket Ratcha Woramahawihan has become a cherished event for Buddhists and visitors alike. The ceremony, held at Wat Saket Ratchaworamahaviharn, aims to bring blessings to life, bid farewell to the old year, and welcome the new year of 2026. The temple, also known as Wat Phu Khao Thong, is a popular destination for chanting ceremonies during the New Year festival.

According to Thai News Agency, the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day celebration at Wat Saket spans from December 30, 2025, to January 4, 2026. Buddhists and the general public are invited to participate in various worship and Buddhist activities designed to bring auspiciousness to their lives. The event features chanting, meditation, and prayers, encouraging participants to generate good fortune for themselves, their families, and the nation. A unique aspect of the ceremony allows attendees to write their names and surnames on the Phu Khao Thong pagoda, enhancing their luck and merit for the year ahead.

Additionally, Wat Saket Ratchaworamahaviharn offers visitors the opportunity to ascend and visit Phra Borommaphot (Golden Mount), providing a chance to watch the sunset and enjoy the stunning nighttime views of Bangkok.
