Hat yai: The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment dispatched a helicopter to Hat Yai Hospital to transport newborns trapped by severe flooding, as part of a coordinated effort with the Ministry of Public Health to aid flood victims in Hat Yai, following directives from the Prime Minister.
According to Thai News Agency, this rescue mission follows previous images showing infants under medical care at Hat Yai Hospital awaiting evacuation due to the flooding. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Suchart Chomklin, ordered a helicopter from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) to collaborate with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) for the urgent transfer of patients from Hat Yai Hospital to Songkla Nakarin Hospital (PSU). This initiative follows Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Anutin Charnvirakul’s directive for both ministries to hasten aid to patients and residents affected by the flooding in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province.
At 7:00 a.m. today, a helicopter from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, helicopter number 1114, assessed the rooftop landing site of Hat Yai Hospital to outline a plan for delivering 1,000 food packages and transporting patients. The operation involved military, medical, and rescue personnel. This morning, they successfully airlifted a baby from the hospital rooftop to receive urgent medical treatment. The helicopter also supported the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) mission, delivering drinking water and food to stranded residents and evacuating emergency patients.
The Ministry has appointed Mr. Kantaphan Pisansuksakul, Assistant Permanent Secretary, as the main liaison for inter-ministerial coordination. Residents and local agencies can request assistance through Senanarong Camp or the Emergency Medical Services Office (EMS) of the Ministry of Public Health. Mr. Suchart emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to continuing air operations to assist Hat Yai District residents until the flood conditions improve, urging all agencies under the Ministry to “help the people as quickly as possible and ensure the safety of all lives.”
