Bangkok: The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) is spearheading an initiative to develop "Next Gen Innovators," bringing together nine leading experts to harness AI technology as a pivotal tool to elevate Thai inventions to the international arena.
According to Thai News Agency, the NRCT organized a forum titled "Next Gen Innovators: The New Generation and the Future of Science - A Turning Point for Thailand through the Power of Innovation," which aimed to cultivate new generation innovators and demonstrate the transformative potential of AI for Thai inventions. This event was a highlight of the 27th National Inventors' Day 2026 celebrations at the BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok.
Ms. Sirinporn Diaotrakul, Deputy Director of the NRCT, emphasized the importance of science and innovation in the current era of rapid and complex global change. She highlighted that these elements are not just economic tools but crucial components in shaping society and the nation, particularly for the new generation, who are seen as change agents with the courage to think and act. The NRCT aims to inspire youth to recognize their vital role in creating innovations for a sustainable future, focusing on five key issues related to nurturing the future of science.
The event featured a panel discussion on 'Next Gen Innovators: The New Generation and the Future of Science - A Turning Point for Thailand through the Power of Innovation.' The panel included Professor Emeritus Dr. Suthiporn Jittmitraphap, Chairperson of the Science, Research and Innovation Budget Review Committee for 2026; Professor Dr. Pornanong Aramvit, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University; and Mr. Chaiwat Phetlohakul of Tang Siew Ping Metalworks Co., Ltd. The discussion brought together perspectives from policy, education, and business sectors to address five key dimensions. These dimensions included analyzing the rapid changes in the world of science, cultivating a future innovator mindset, exploring new opportunities for Thailand, developing impactful innovations, and guiding the path for youth as future innovators for national security.
