Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Chairman Shot Dead by Former MP

Nonthaburi: The Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization Chairman has died after being shot by former MP Chalong Riangrang. The incident occurred at the Provincial Administrative Organization office and involved the shooting of Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the President of the organization.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Yutthana Thupkaew, a member of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, reported the incident to authorities at Rattanathibet Police Station. The shooting resulted in the death of Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert at 2:36 PM.

After the incident, Ms. Anchalee Pairirak, a close associate of Mr. Chalong, arrived at the scene. She was noted for answering Mr. Chalong's phone call during a live broadcast where he narrated the aftermath of the shooting. Reporters attempted to question her as she headed towards the interrogation room, but she declined to comment further.

Mr. Chalong is currently under investigation as police work to uncover the motive behind the crime. Investigators are diligently examining the details of the incident to ensure all legal procedures are followed.

Meanwhile, the driver who was injured during the shooting is receiving medical care at a hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable under close observation by medical officials.

Ms. Traisuli Traisaranakul, Secretary to the Prime Minister and Registrar of the Bhumjaithai Party, disclosed that Mr. Chalong resigned from the Bhumjaithai Party on May 27, 2024. Although he ran as a candidate for the party in the 2023 elections, he was not elected. Prior to his association with Bhumjaithai, Mr. Chalong was a member of the Pheu Thai Party and has now reportedly joined the Palang Pracharath Party.
