Bangkok: “Noppadol” has called for all parties involved in the 14th floor case to evaluate the situation based on facts and legal principles, urging against decisions driven by emotions and discouraging undue pressure on the justice process.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Noppadol Pattama, a Member of Parliament for the Pheu Thai Party and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, addressed the critical spotlight on the 14th floor case, which involves former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. He emphasized that while the case has garnered significant public interest, it is essential for all parties to allow the facts and the law to take precedence over emotional judgments. Mr. Noppadol stressed the importance of ensuring that the justice process remains unpressured, advocating for an open environment where facts, law, and justice can prevail, regardless of personal feelings towards individuals involved.
Mr. Noppadol reflected on his experience as a legal advisor following the 2006 coup, highlighting that individuals with opposing political views to the former prime minister were tasked with investigating cases through the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). He questioned whether such appointments might infringe upon the rule of law, advocating for a comprehensive understanding of events and urging for kindness, goodwill, and fair criticism free from bias.
He reiterated, “The rule of law must be applied consistently in all cases. I believe in the investigation and the justice process as the last resort for the people.” Mr. Noppadol’s comments underline the importance of a fair and impartial legal process in strengthening law enforcement in Thailand.
