NSC Secretary-General Mum on Martial Law Expansion, Focuses on Military Smuggling Prevention

Bangkok: The Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC) has opted not to comment on the potential expansion of martial law areas, instead emphasizing efforts to prevent the smuggling of military equipment. This development comes ahead of a significant meeting with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai Bangchawad, the Secretary-General, spoke briefly with the press before his meeting with the Prime Minister. He mentioned that the meeting aimed to prepare for the upcoming NSC meeting, where discussions will center on preventing military equipment smuggling. Mr. Chatchai confirmed that the NSC meeting’s agenda would include strategies to intercept the shipment of military supplies.

When questioned about potential discussions on spies infiltrating Thai territory, Mr. Chatchai suggested that it would be prudent to wait for the meeting’s outcome. He also stated that the exact timing of the meeting had not been finalized, although it is confirmed that Prime Minister Anutin will preside over it. The focus will be on issues highlighted by the Ministry of Defense, particularly concerning the control of military equipment.

Further inquiries about the evacuation of Thai citizens from Cambodia were met with assurance that all relevant matters would be discussed at the meeting and addressed during the press conference.
