Bangkok: NSM joins forces with the Science Association to open an international academic conference, highlighting the topic of “Leading Science Communication in an Era of Challenges” to address the challenges of the digital age. Mr. Suwarong Wongsiri, Acting Director of the National Science Museum (NSM), revealed that NSM, in collaboration with the Science Society of Thailand under Royal Patronage, is organizing the 2nd International Symposium of Science Communication and Public Science Literacy 2025. The conference, held at the Mahamakut Building, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, aims to reflect the crucial role of science communication at the global level through knowledge exchange and collaboration among various stakeholders. This initiative seeks to ensure complex scientific information is easily accessible and credible to the public, laying the foundation for sustainable development in science, technology, and innovation in the future. s on Science, Technology, and Technology-based Innovation (STT51), held from November 11-13, 2025, at Chulalongkorn University, in honor of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on the occasion of her 70th birthday.
According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanatkun Mongkol-Asavarat, President of the Science Society of Thailand, stated that this year’s international conference, now in its second year, emphasizes the importance of communicating science to the public. Global experience demonstrates that countries that promote knowledge alongside fostering scientific judgment are more resilient in addressing the challenges of the digital age. This forum provides an opportunity for participants to exchange perspectives on policy, research, and practice, expanding networks, fostering collaboration, and sustainably elevating scientific literacy at the national and international levels.
The event attracted 123 participants and 13 presenters from five countries: Thailand, Italy, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Taiwan. This highlight provided an opportunity for participants to learn from direct experiences in various dimensions, including research, science communication, and the application of technology to address the challenges of the modern world, presented by leading experts, including Ms. Giulia Rizzo from Italy, Dr. Kannika Chen from Thailand, Dr. Saran Poshyachinda from Thailand, Dr. Fung Hongen from Malaysia, and Mr. Mark Evan Coronado Roblas from the Philippines.
