OBEC Assures School Placement for All Students in 2026 Enrollment Drive

Bangkok: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is advancing with its student enrollment process for the 2026 academic year, ensuring that every child will secure a school placement. According to Thai News Agency, over 388,000 students have already applied for Grade 7, while more than 219,000 have applied for Grade 10. The entrance exams are set for March 28-29, with the ministry confirming placements for all applicants. Mr. Pichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of OBEC, outlined the enrollment progress, which aligns with the Ministry of Education's "Excellent Learning, Moral Values" policy. This policy aims to maintain transparent and fair admissions, providing equal educational opportunities for all students. For Grade 7, OBEC plans to enroll 427,024 students, with 388,239 applications already received. Meanwhile, for Grade 10, the plan is to enroll 402,690 students. Schools have already accepted 171,021 Grade 9 graduates, leaving space for an additional 231,669 students. Currently, 219,278 applications have been submitted. In cases where applications exceed available spots, entrance exams for Grade 7 will be conducted on March 28, with enrollment on April 4. For Grade 10, exams are scheduled for March 29, with enrollment on April 5. Students and parents are encouraged to stay informed through school announcements, prepare necessary documents, and adhere to the provided schedule to ensure a smooth process. Mr. Phophakdee emphasized OBEC's commitment to a transparent, equal, and fair enrollment process, ensuring quality education access for all. If a student is not selected for their preferred school, parents can seek placement through the 'Student Enrollment Coordination Center' at the nearest Educational Service Area Office. OBEC guarantees that every child will receive a school placement.
