OBEC Ensures Transparency and Fairness in Grade 7 Entrance Examinations

Roi et: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) visited entrance examination centers for Grade 7 (M.1), emphasizing transparency and fairness, ensuring all students have a place at a university. On March 28, 2026, Mr. Pichet Phophakdee, Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), visited the examination site for the selection of students to study in the first year of secondary school at Roi Et Wittayalai School, Roi Et Province. He was accompanied by directors of educational service areas and relevant personnel.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pichet stated that in the entrance examination for Grade 7 students, OBEC prioritizes the safety of students and teachers above all else. He emphasized that all examination centers must strictly adhere to safety measures and contingency plans. During his inspection, he found that Roi Et Wittayalai School was able to provide an examination venue that met the required standards.

For the 2016 academic year, Roi Et Wittayalai School will accept a total of 12 classes for Grade 7 (M.1), comprising 6 regular classes (240 students), 4 GP classes (144 students), and 2 EP classes (60 students), for a total of 444 students. On the exam day, the regular classrooms were divided into two groups: 90 students from the service area, with 97 applicants (a competition ratio of 1:1.08), and 135 students from outside the service area, with 500 applicants (a competition ratio of 1:3.70).

The overview of this year's nationwide entrance examination for Grade 7 (M.1) shows a planned intake of 427,024 students, with 388,239 applicants. The exam will be held on March 28, 2026, and enrollment is scheduled for April 4, 2026. Regionally, the most popular schools are Chalermprakiat Somdej Phra Srinakarin School, Kalayani Sritammarat School, Suratthani Pittaya School, Suankularb Wittayalai Rangsit School, and Kanchanaphisek Wittayalai Nakhon Pathom School. The Secretary-General of OBEC reiterated that student admissions for the 2026 academic year will be conducted in a transparent, equitable, and fair manner at every step to create comprehensive and equal educational opportunities.

If a student is not selected for their preferred school, parents can submit a request for school placement through the "Student Admission Coordination Center" at the nearest district education office. OBEC confirms that every student will definitely be allocated a school place.

Simultaneously, senior OBEC executives visited examination centers in other areas to ensure smooth and standardized examination processes nationwide. Deputy Secretary-Generals and Assistant Secretary-Generals, along with OBEC advisors and experts, played a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the examinations across various provinces.
