Bangkok: The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has initiated a significant event to encourage public involvement in reporting drug-related information. The event, titled "ONCB Mission: 1386, Your Refuge for All Drug-Related Problems," is a strategic effort to tackle the drug issue collaboratively. It also marked the launch of "ONCB Mission Season 2: Operation IN SEA," a series showcasing the real-life missions of ONCB officers, at Future Park Rangsit Shopping Center.
According to Thai News Agency, the event underscores the ONCB's proactive policy led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Suriya Singhakamol, Secretary-General of the ONCB, to mitigate the drug problem's impact. The strategy includes dismantling drug networks, disrupting financial operations of trafficking rings, rehabilitating drug users, and fortifying community resilience. The ONCB has also enhanced its 1386 hotline to offer a secure 24-hour platform for the public to report drug-related information.
The event featured four key zones: a zone for identifying suspicious behavior, a game zone to deter drug trafficking, a safe reporting area, and a consultation corner with experts on treatment and rehabilitation. A significant highlight was the launch of 'ONCB Mission Season 2: Operation IN SEA - Invading Hell Island,' depicting the real-life missions of officers against transnational drug trafficking networks. An 'IN SEA Exclusive Talk' panel discussion followed, with actor Top Jaran sharing insights from the series and the challenges faced by officers. The 'Phaam Gang,' portraying drug traffickers, cautioned the public about scams involving packages from strangers.
Additionally, the event includes mini-concerts and activities by artists and influencers. A special stage performance by Dr. Trin Pothiraksa is scheduled for tomorrow. The event also educates attendees on the effects of drugs on the brain and offers advice on self-protection under the "Be cautious!" concept.
Mr. Kanisorn Phaphiranon, Director of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, highlighted the event's goal to raise awareness and foster public participation in addressing the drug problem. The series serves as a communication tool, especially for youth, to understand the dangers of drugs and encourage information reporting.
Mr. Kanisorn noted that the rise in public tips reflects growing awareness and societal involvement. The focus is on using the information to address drug-related issues concretely and decrease involvement in such activities long-term.
Top Jaran shared his experience portraying a Narcotics Suppression Bureau officer, gaining insight into the officers' sacrifices to protect the public from drug dangers. He emphasized the importance of inspiring young people through entertainment media to value the profession and the necessity of collective efforts to address the increasingly complex drug problem. He urged everyone, particularly youth, to avoid drugs due to their severe and long-lasting consequences.
The public can view the series 'ONCB Mission Season 2: Operation IN SEA' on the ONCB's social media platforms. Any drug-related information can be reported via the 24-hour hotline 1386.
