Opening of the Climate Change Information Center in Thailand

Bangkok: The Department of Global Warming has opened a climate change information center, linking climate data from around the world to the local level in all 76 provinces.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Raweewan Phuridej, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, presided over the 3rd anniversary celebration of the Department of Climate Change and Environment (Department of Global Warming) and inaugurated the Climate Change Information Center (CCIC), a national Big Data repository for climate information. This center will collect and connect global climate data to the regional level in all 76 provinces, enabling Thailand to accurately address climate change and move towards a Net Zero climate change response.

Furthermore, the national data center will comprehensively compile Big Data on climate, enabling spatial risk assessment and long-term risk analysis across six key sectors, including water management, agriculture, public health, and tourism, covering all 76 provinces. It will also support policy formulation and serve as a scientific reference database for government, private sector, and local authorities to use in planning and decision-making.
