Bangkok: The opposition has acquired new evidence in relation to the Sak Siam shareholding case and is preparing to submit a request to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate allegations of false asset declarations that were previously dismissed.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, MP and Deputy Leader of the People's Party, along with his team, received additional evidence from Mr. Patarapong Supakorn, a representative of the people's sector. This evidence includes testimonies from Mr. Saksayam Chidchob, the former Minister of Transport, and "Mr. S.", who the Constitutional Court identified as a nominee holding shares on behalf of the former Minister. The evidence also details financial transactions between the two, aimed to support legal proceedings under Article 236 of the Constitution.
Upon receiving the evidence, Mr. Parit expressed gratitude for the new submissions and confirmed that progress is underway to prepare a petition under Article 236 of the Constitution. The petition aims to request the Speaker of Parliament to forward the matter to the President of the Supreme Court. The goal is to establish a committee to investigate the NACC's dismissal of the complaint against Mr. Saksayam Chidchob regarding alleged false asset declarations. Mr. Parit stated that with the support of opposition parties, including the People's Party with 119 seats, the Democrat Party with over 20 seats, the Thai Bhakdi Party with 1 seat, the Seri Ruam Thai Party with 1 seat, and 10 Senators, totaling 140 seats, they have sufficient backing to file the petition.
He further mentioned that if eligible voters also gather signatures to submit the petition as per the Constitution, it would bolster their effort. Mr. Parit assured that the opposition parties are diligently collecting the necessary documents and expect to complete the process by May.
