Sanaa:The opposition, led by Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, has submitted a motion for a no-confidence vote against 18 ministers from the Bhumjaithai Party, aiming to dismantle what they refer to as the "blue regime." This regime is seen by the opposition as a threat to democracy. The motion, signed by 145 people, was presented to Mr. Sophon Saram, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and outlines allegations involving Senate corruption, public crises, and other governance issues.
According to Thai News Agency, the motion targets prominent figures including Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and other key ministers. The opposition intends to use the debate to address issues they believe are jeopardizing democracy and to hold the ministers accountable for their actions. The Speaker of the House, Mr. Sophon Saram, has indicated that the motion could be scheduled for a debate by the end of October, pending the Cabinet's proposal.
The no-confidence debate covers a range of issues, including alleged misconduct and abuse of power within the Senate and government. Mr. Nattapong emphasized that the debate's focus will be on evidence and accountability, urging impartial voting based on the information presented. The Democrat Party, represented by Mr. Satit Wongnongteuy, supports the motion, highlighting the importance of scrutinizing government performance under Article 151 of the Constitution.
House Speaker Sophon Saram noted the legal timeframe for agenda inclusion is 14 days and aims to expedite the motion review process. He stressed the importance of adhering to regulations to ensure a fair debate process.
