Ordered Rayong Election Commission to select verdict of “Group 18 Senators” who lack qualifications and must be sentenced

Bangkok, The Central Election Commission ordered the Rayong Provincial Election Commission to select the verdict of the "Group 18 Senators" who lack the qualifications of having been convicted. Reporters reported that there was news that a former senator candidate from the group of 18 media and literary creators had information that he had been imprisoned and had just been released in 2018, which means he lacks the qualifications to run for senator according to the 26 prohibited characteristics as specified by the Election Commission, namely, not having been sentenced to imprisonment and being detained by court order, and having been imprisoned for less than 10 years as of the election date at the district level, except for offenses committed through negligence or minor offenses. The reporter said that the said senator is Pol. Lt. Col. Koraphot Runghiranwat and in this matter, the central office will order the provincial EC office to copy the verdict tomorrow. Initial investigation found that he had a prev ious case of obstructing and assaulting an official while reporting news in the Ban Phe area in August 2018.
