Over 2.4 Million Register for Advance Voting in Thailand, Reports Election Commission

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has announced that 2.4 million people have registered to vote in advance.

According to Thai News Agency, the registration period for advance voting and overseas voting has concluded, showing a total of 2,410,425 registrations. This number includes both advance voting within Thailand and overseas voting, alongside registrations for an upcoming referendum which reached 1,598,056.

The ECT provided a detailed summary of the voting registration process that took place over a 17-day period from December 20, 2015, to January 5, 2016. Out of the total registered voters, 8,247 opted to vote within their constituencies, while 2,262,643 registered to vote outside their constituencies. Additionally, 139,535 voters registered to cast their votes overseas.

During a separate three-day registration period from January 3-5, 2026, the ECT recorded 1,598,056 registrations specifically for the referendum. Of these, 1,502,390 people registered to vote outside their registered district, while 95,666 individuals registered to vote overseas.
