PAD Mob Expresses Concern Over Thai-Cambodia Border Negotiations

Bangkok: The PAD mob has submitted a letter expressing their stance that Thai people should not lose their land, as tensions arise over negotiations concerning overlapping areas between Thailand and Cambodia. If the negotiations are seen as disadvantageous today, ‘Okya Kalahom Bhumtham’ should be prepared for the consequences.

According to Thai News Agency, the Student and People’s Network for Thailand Reform (SNRT), the Army of Dharma, and the PDRC, led by Mr. Pichit Chaiyamongkol, gathered in front of the Royal Orchid Sheraton Riverside Hotel in Bangkok. The group, which moved from Chamai Maruchet Bridge, included key figures such as Mr. Nasser Yeema, Mr. Anon Klinkaew, and Mr. Jaipetch Klajon, who organized a rally coinciding with the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting.

Mr. Anon Klinkaew stated that the group aimed to submit a letter to General Songwit Noonpakdee, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, urging the military to uphold Thailand’s sovereignty. The group expressed distrust towards Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra and his role in the negotiations, referencing past sentiments expressed by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The group was allowed to send 10 representatives to submit the letter, complying with official requests to refrain from using loudspeakers. Mr. Pichit Chaiyamongkol emphasized the need for negotiations to prioritize national benefits over border discussions, reflecting concerns that Cambodia might have different objectives.

The letter was submitted to Lt. Gen. Nattapong Prakaew, who assured the protesters that the GBC meeting focused on security issues rather than the border dispute, which requires technical discussions at the JBC meeting. He reassured that the military remains committed to preserving national sovereignty and pledged to forward the protesters’ concerns to the appropriate parties.

Security at the event was managed by Pol. Maj. Gen. Samart Promchat, with a contingent of 40 police officers and a company from the Crowd Control and Protection Division ensuring safety at the venue.
