Satun: Ms. Pakamon Nunanan, a party-list MP and spokesperson for the People's Party, has publicly urged Mr. Worasit Liengprasit, the Deputy Minister of Interior and MP for Satun, to swiftly locate the source of alleged corruption within the local government examination process. This call to action comes amidst growing concerns about integrity and transparency in the 2025 local government exams.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Worasit has vowed to identify those responsible for the corruption, with suspicions centering on Mr. Natthaphong Suwannachana, the mayor of Khuan Kalong Subdistrict, Satun Province. Mr. Natthaphong reportedly fled after the investigation commenced, raising questions and concerns among local officials and residents.
Ms. Pakamon took to Facebook to express her concerns, questioning the effectiveness of Mr. Worasit's efforts to uncover the corruption. She highlighted the unusual circumstances surrounding Mr. Natthaphong's disappearance, noting his significant role as the 14th member of the central committee for the local government employee recruitment exam. Despite police issuing three arrest warrants, Mr. Natthaphong remains at large, with reports suggesting he may still be in the southern region of the country.
Mr. Worasit, who is also a prominent figure in Satun, has addressed these concerns live on two occasions, emphasizing his determination to thoroughly investigate the matter. However, Ms. Pakamon questioned the sincerity of his efforts, given his deep connections within the region and the influential Liengprasit family. She urged him to intensify his search for Mr. Natthaphong and to demonstrate a genuine commitment to resolving the issue.
The situation remains tense as authorities continue their investigation into the alleged corruption, with the public closely monitoring the actions of local leaders and their commitment to justice.
