Bangkok:Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan chaired an important meeting at the Government House to address issues related to electricity purchase agreements from private power producers.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting was the third session of the Committee for Resolving Problems Arising from the Purchase of Electricity from Private Power Producers, scheduled for 2026. The discussions focused on the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) concerning amendments to agreements with small power producers (SPPs) and very small power producers (VSPPs).
Pakorn emphasized the significance of the legal and operational aspects of these agreements, particularly those under the Non-Firm category, which involve automatic contract renewals. The meeting also reviewed progress reports from various agencies involved in this matter.
Pakorn urged the committee members to carefully evaluate the issues and provide their insights to facilitate a swift resolution. The conclusions from these discussions are intended to be presented to the National Energy Policy Council (NEPC) for approval.
